Edoardo Mortara on F1 rule changes: “What feels surprising now will look normal in coming months”
Edoardo Mortara has joined the group of Formula E drivers who have shared their opinions on the new F1 regulations. Formula One has undergone major reforms as the cars have become hybrid this season. While drivers such as Lucas Di Grassi have expressed disagreement with the new F1 cars, Mortara has shown his approval, claiming things will fall into place once drivers get used to them. The Mahindra Racing driver believes hybrid technology is the way forward, and that F1 simply reflects trends in the automotive world.
The Mahindra Racing driver believes that drivers will eventually adapt to the changes. He said, “With major regulation changes, there are always challenges at the beginning. It can surprise many people in the industry – drivers, engineers, mechanics. But over time, people converge towards the best technical solutions and become familiar with the new regulations. Right now it’s making a lot of noise because some teams may be struggling with the changes, which is quite normal.”
“But I’m sure it will become exciting, and given the level in Formula One, I expect the teams to adapt quickly. What feels new and surprising now will probably look quite normal in the coming months or years,” he added.
Mortara will return to racing at the Berlin E-Prix, with the double-header scheduled from 1-3 May.
