“I thought my race was done”: Rowland and Mortara thrilled after hard-fought podiums in Mexico City
Nick Cassidy won the Mexico City E-Prix, strengthening the belief that, like the three-year trend, he could now win the Formula E Championship this season as well. While he bagged his debut win for Citroën Racing, Mahindra Racing’s Edoardo Mortara and Nissan’s Oliver Rowland also have every reason to be happy after finishing second and third on the podium, respectively. The two have confessed to struggling during the race and were relieved to have still managed to grab podium finishes.
Opening up about acquiring the second spot on the podium, Mortara said, “Nick [Cassidy] had a really good race. We started to struggle midway through the race, and unfortunately it didn’t give us the opportunity to launch an attack in the last laps. I’m very happy with P2 and this podium, and with some solid points for us.”
The Nissan driver, however, was not that confident of finishing on the podium during the race. “I was one of the first to take the Attack Mode, so when the Full-Course Yellow came out and I’d lost five places, I thought my race was done,” he said.
“But we were really efficient and I kept the energy. I could just be quick at the end, and the pace was the key thing. I was delighted to get on the podium. It’s a good event, as always, that Formula E puts on here with this crowd, it’s an absolute pleasure to race here and I hope the fans enjoyed it,” Rowland added.
The Formula E drivers now have a three-week break before they head to the US for the Miami E-Prix. It is scheduled for January 31.

Edoardo Mortara makes Mahindra Racing proud at Mexico City E-Prix
Edoardo Mortara, 39, secured his first podium of the season for Mahindra Racing in Round 2 in Mexico. This result comes as a relief for the 39-year-old, who couldn’t complete Round 1 in São Paulo. After winning two podiums last year, he already seems to be in the mood to perform even better this year.Opening up about acquiring the second spot on the podium, Mortara said, “Nick [Cassidy] had a really good race. We started to struggle midway through the race, and unfortunately it didn’t give us the opportunity to launch an attack in the last laps. I’m very happy with P2 and this podium, and with some solid points for us.”
Oliver Rowland lost hope after early Attack Mode at Mexico City E-Prix

After finishing second in Sao Paulo, he went on to finish third in Mexico City. He is currently in third position in the Drivers’ Standings. The Nissan driver, however, was not that confident of finishing on the podium during the race. “I was one of the first to take the Attack Mode, so when the Full-Course Yellow came out and I’d lost five places, I thought my race was done,” he said.
