Lucas Di Grassi highlights power of learning from mistakes: “Error-correcting is the algorithm of evolution”
Lucas Di Grassi recently addressed a gathering at an event in the Dominican Republic where he spoke about the importance of learning from one’s mistakes. The Lola Yamaha ABT driver continues to compete in Formula E in its 12th season. Lucas Di Grassi was recently speaking at an event in the Dominican Republic as a guest speaker and later shared the gist of his speech with fans on social media.
Sharing a few pictures from the event, Lucas Di Grassi wrote on Instagram, “The focus of my keynote was about the humility to accept errors and use them as data to improve. In the cockpit of a complex Formula E race car, every little mistake or near-miss isn’t defeat - it’s the opportunity to learn and improve. Top drivers dissect errors with brutal precision, recalibrating their edge through relentless correction. This is resilience forged in velocity: not blind grit, but a systematic rewrite of flaws into fuel.”
Asking his fans to learn from their mistakes, he further wrote: “Apply it to your field: Error-correcting isn't as much appreciated as it should be; to say the least, it’s the algorithm of evolution. Spot the glitch, fix the code, move harder. Life’s track demands the same - no excuses, just upgrades. #ABB #FORMULAE #MINDSET #KEYNOTE.”
The 41-year-old Brazilian, however, has not been excelling on the track for multiple reasons. He recently addressed speculation around his retirement from racing. He told RacingNews365, “At this point in my career, I need to understand where I'm more valuable. Am I more valuable driving the car? Am I more valuable doing something else for the championship or for the team? If not next year, then in a few years, I want to take the step toward that. So for me, I need to understand the opportunities where I think I can add more value and then make the decision. So it's not 100% clear that I'll be on the grid next season.”
“But at the moment, with the development of Gen4 and Gen3, I have to try to push as much as I can, because I still need to deliver results for the team,” he added.
He will next compete at the Madrid E-Prix. The Round 6 race is scheduled for March 21.
