Lucas Di Grassi says Formula E’s GEN4 car could be faster than an F1 car: “The car is a monster”

Lucas Di Grassi continues to be a vocal supporter of Formula E. After sharing his views on how F1 should remain different from Formula E, the Formula E veteran has now shared a video teasing the upcoming GEN4 car. It will be introduced next season and is being pitched as an electric racing car that could be faster than even a Formula One car. Di Grassi has called it a monster after driving it on track.

Lucas Di Grassi says the world is moving toward Formula E

Lucas Di Grassi recently shared a video to show a glimpse of the Formula E GEN4 car. He said in the video, “Hey everyone, if you've been following Formula E since Generation 1, you're in for a big surprise in Generation 4. This car is a monster, 600 kW, 4x4 drive, bigger tires, a super carburetor; it gives you a boost and a whole bunch of other stuff. So, if you're not following Formula E yet, it's worth checking out. I already drove the car in this video here. I'm driving the car in Spain, and the car is a monster. It's going to be really cool, so it's worth following.”

“We're going through a revolutionary process in Formula E. This is just the first step, and the next step will be to make a car faster than a Formula 1 car. That's going to happen soon, so stay tuned because things are accelerating toward the world of electrification, toward the world of Formula E,” he added.
Reacting to Di Grassi’s video, a fan wrote: “Impressive evolution of these FIA FE cars, wow!” Another added: “This car looks pretty good. Success.” But another raised an objection to the use of street circuits, saying: “Cool... it's just a shame to see so much power wasted on blocked street circuits. It's time to mix things up more and see the real power of these vehicles on racetracks.”

A fan also showed disappointment with the massive one-month break between the Jeddah E-Prix and the Madrid E-Prix. “The car is really good looking, and also impressive. I hope one day they sort out the FE calendar, because these giant hiatuses between races are horrible. I'm completely out of the competition,” wrote a fan.

Next in Formula E is the Madrid E-Prix on March 21. The Round 6 race will be the maiden race at the Madrid venue, which will also see the Pit Boost feature in play for the first time.
