“Wasn’t expecting that”: Mitch Evans sets record for most Formula E wins after claiming 16th victory at Berlin E-Prix
Mitch Evans claimed his second victory of the season in Berlin, which was also his fourth podium of the campaign. His Berlin E-Prix Part 2 win is special for another reason, as it marked his 16th victory, making him the driver with the most Formula E wins in the history of the electric racing series. The win also came just days after he announced his exit from the team at the end of the season. He spoke about the special achievement and credited his team for the result.
Sharing how he secured the Round 8 victory, Mitch Evans said in a statement: “That marks 16 wins now for me. Strategy-wise, we started towards the back, so we took a punt using a new set of tyres. I think that helped a bit, but also being patient in the race and letting it come to me. I saw a couple of drivers around me as Oliver [Rowland] went a bit earlier, but had good guidance from the team to stay patient and have one big attack at the end, and it paid off. Full credit to the team for getting me through that one. Wasn’t expecting that when I woke up today.”
Giving credit to the Jaguar TCS Racing team, he added: “In the car, you have to read the race well and get a feel for it, but I’ve got a great team behind me. We do a lot of preparation pre-race and during the race, and it’s not just down to one person - it’s a collective effort. I think we’ve seen over the years of GEN3, whether it’s other drivers or me driving for Jaguar TCS Racing, that we’re towards the front at the end of these types of races. Full credit to the team; it was a team effort today.”
He further said, as per a statement issued by Jaguar TCS Racing: “That was an amazing result after what’s been a difficult weekend - and we worked hard for it. We’ve been struggling for one-lap pace here, so I wanted to try something different, which is why I saved tyres for the race today. The team backed me on that call, and then together we executed a perfect race. We were patient early on, then attacked at the right time, and I felt comfortable once we got to the front. Now we’ll look to take this momentum to Monaco, which feels like a home race to me.”
He fended off the advances of Oliver Rowland and Pascal Wehrlein through the second round of Attack Mode during the race climax and set a record by claiming his 16th Formula E victory.

How Mitch Evans won the Formula E Round 8 race in Berlin
Mitch Evans started the Berlin E-Prix final from a lowly 17th position on the grid after compromising qualifying to save tyres for the race. He, however, managed to push forward into the top six by the end of the first round of Attack Mode activations, with more energy in hand than those around him. His initial six-minute 350kW all-wheel-drive Attack Mode saw him hit the front on Lap 27 and take control from there, building a gap of two seconds to those behind. He fended off the advances of Oliver Rowland and Pascal Wehrlein through the second round of Attack Mode during the race climax and set a record by claiming his 16th Formula E victory.
