Valtteri Bottas has made his return to Mercedes after a three-year hiatus, expressing that he "couldn't be happier" as he witnessed the unveiling of the team’s 2025 Formula 1 car, the W16. The 10-time Grand Prix winner rejoined Mercedes after a challenging stint with Sauber Formula 1 Team, where his performance did not meet expectations. Bottas will now serve as the third driver alongside Andrea Kimi Antonelli and George Russell for the current season, following Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari and the resulting team reshuffle.

Valtteri Bottas on his return to Mercedes

Speaking about his comeback, Bottas shared, "I couldn’t be happier to be back with Mercedes. It feels like I’m home. It’s been fantastic catching up with former colleagues, and I’m really looking forward to supporting the team both on and off the track. As Third Driver, I will be at every Grand Prix, providing support and that extra set of eyes. I will also be at the factory, contributing to car development in the simulator. I can’t wait to get started."

The official Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team social media page had recently posted a video welcoming Bottas back to the team. In the video, he sips coffee and sighs with relief, saying, "Traditions. I am home." Mercedes captioned the post, "There’s no place like home. Good to have you back, @valtteribottas!"

Bottas had a difficult time at Sauber, struggling to score points, which ultimately led to the team deciding not to renew his contract. This setback paved the way for his return to Mercedes.
