CHENNAI: Spain booked their place in the final for the first time, edging out Argentina 2-1 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Sunday. The contest was overshadowed by the controversy around Spain’s winning goal.

In the final quarter, Spain went ahead through Albert Serrahima (56th minute). Bruno Avila hammered a powerful strike from distance, and the ball took a faint deflection off Serrahima’s stick before finding the net. Argentina immediately referred the decision, but after a lengthy review, the video umpire found no conclusive evidence to advise the on-field umpire. There was no definitive angle on replays.
