Boxing champion Devin Haney sues Leena Sayed in explosive extortion case after restraining order fight

World champion boxer Devin Haney has filed a lawsuit against Leena Sayed, the mother of his child, alleging extortion and defamation. Haney claims Sayed threatened his reputation and parental rights, seeking damages for emotional distress and career damage. Devin Haney, the world champion boxer, has taken his fight out of the ring and into court. According to TMZ Sports, on Wednesday in Los Angeles, Devin Haney filed a lawsuit against the mother of his baby daughter, Leena Sayed. The boxer claims Sayed tried to extort him by threatening his reputation and his rights to see his child. This comes less than two months after Sayed received a temporary restraining order against him. Haney says in the court papers that Sayed has spread “false and defamatory” stories about him, which he says are damaging his career and image. He also accused her of causing him emotional distress and is asking for damages. His lawyer, Bobby Samini, told TMZ Sports, “Devin Haney has lived his life and built his career with integrity, discipline, and respect… Devin will not be extorted, intimidated, or coerced by anyone. He will defend his name, and his values against any false narratives.”

The court filing took place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, in Los Angeles, California. In his lawsuit, Devin Haney says Leena Sayed threatened to ruin his public image unless he gave her more money. He also claims she told him he could lose his rights to visit their daughter, named Khrome, who was born in January this year.
Devin Haney’s legal team is asking the court to award him damages for what they describe as “extreme and outrageous” behavior.
They also accuse Sayed of inventing claims of physical abuse. This legal action comes only weeks after Sayed told the court in her restraining order request that Haney had abused her several times over the past year and a half.One of her main claims is that in December 2024, when she was nine months pregnant, Haney allegedly pushed her, causing her to fall on her back. Leena Sayed responds to Devin Haney extortion claims through attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan

Leena Sayed has denied trying to extort Devin Haney. On Wednesday, her attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, spoke to TMZ Sports. He said, “She is only seeking to get what the law requires Mr. Haney to pay for child support.” Kaplan added that the truth of her statements protects her from Haney’s defamation claims, saying, “In the law of defamation truth is a defence.”Mark Vincent Kaplan also suggested the boxer should take his case to family court instead of social media. The two are scheduled to appear in the Los Angeles family court early next month for a hearing in the restraining order case.
