Olympian Nyjah Huston is recovering after a skateboarding attempt ended in a frightening accident that left him hospitalized with serious head injuries. The 31-year-old Olympic bronze medalist shared the news himself. Images from the aftermath showed the physical toll of the incident, revealing the extent to which a routine session can turn dangerous at the sport’s highest level.

Following Huston’s words online about his injuries, fans went on to shower massive tributes as it grabbed global headlines. Several athletes from the sports also commented on the skateboarding legend’s post, wishing a speedy recovery.

Nyjah Huston confirmed the extent of his injuries through Instagram after a rail trick went wrong.

“A harsh reminder how death defying skating massive rails can be,” Huston, 31, wrote via Instagram on Monday, January 5. “Fractured skull, fractured eye socket. Taking it one day at a time.”


He followed that message with a personal note.

“I hope yall had a better new years than me,” he added. “We live to fight another day ����.”

Photos showed him receiving medical attention at the scene before being transported to a hospital in Arizona. Later images revealed significant bruising around his eye and his time in recovery, offering fans a clear picture of the severity of his injury.

The response from the skateboarding community was immediate and heartfelt. Fellow professionals and fans filled the comments with encouragement and respect for Huston’s strength.

Huston’s career context makes the incident even more significant. He has represented the United States at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics, earning bronze in Paris. He also owns multiple X Games gold medals and SLS World Championship titles, achievements built through years of consistency and risk. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his recovery timeline, Huston has previously made his intentions clear regarding the future.

“I’m stoked for the L.A. Olympics. I’m definitely going to try my best to be there. I plan to be there,” Huston told Reuters in August 2025.

For now, his focus remains on healing.
