“It is the combat sports leader”- Joe Rogan gives MMA fighters the path to prove they are the best truly
The long-time UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, believes that combat sports fighters must compete in the UFC if they truly want to prove their greatness. Rogan feels the UFC remains the ultimate test for elite fighters.
The UFC leads in revenue, star power, and overall reach. Promotions like PFL and ONE Championship offer big opportunities and good paydays. However, Rogan says that when it comes to legacy and being considered the best, the UFC stands alone in the sport today.
Joe Rogan shared his thoughts during a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience with Gable Steveson. He explained that the UFC title carries unmatched value in combat sports. According to Rogan, the UFC name itself represents the highest level of competition. He said that while fighters can compete elsewhere, it does not hold the same weight. Rogan noted that fighters can go to the PFL, win a million-dollar tournament, and earn good money, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Rogan made it clear that he supports fighters making money outside the UFC. He said he is happy when athletes can support their families, build financial security, and retire comfortably. However, he added that chasing greatness is a different goal. In his view, fighters who truly want to be recognized as the best in the world must test themselves in the UFC. Rogan said that is simply the reality of the sport today.
In another discussion, Rogan also spoke about the future of the UFC. During an episode of his podcast with Shane Gillis, he praised rising middleweight contender Ateba Gautier. Rogan described the Cameroonian fighter as a frightening presence inside the cage. He highlighted Gautier’s physical build, knockout power, speed, and technical striking. Rogan said Gautier overwhelms opponents and dominates them quickly.
Rogan also pointed out that Gautier is very strong for his weight class and unusually large at 185 pounds. He praised his athleticism and overall skill set. According to Rogan, Gautier has everything needed to become a major star. He confidently stated that Gautier represents the future of the UFC.
Ateba Gautier, who holds a 9-1 professional record with eight knockouts, is set to face Andrey Pulyaev at UFC 324 later this month.
