“It would be a disaster if…”- Alan Shearer backs Arsenal to beat Tottenham Hotspur amid Premier League title race pressure

Alan Shearer has recently predicted that Arsenal F.C. will defeat Tottenham Hotspur F.C. in their upcoming Premier League clash. The Hall of Famer believes Arsenal have a stronger reason to win the North London derby this weekend. With the title race entering a crucial stage, Shearer feels Mikel Arteta’s men cannot afford another slip-up in the league. Notably, the Gunners have recently dropped points after taking leads in the early matches of the Premier League.

Arsenal are currently leading the Premier League table, but their advantage is shrinking. Manchester City F.C. are close behind and still has a game in hand. Shearer has warned that the pressure is mounting at the Emirates. He also said Tottenham, which is now managed by Igor Tudor, do not inspire much confidence despite the usual boost that comes with a new manager.

Writing in his Metro prediction column, Alan Shearer made it clear that Arsenal simply have to win this match. He explained that failing to collect three points again would be a major setback. According to him, Arsenal are already under heavy pressure after surrendering a two-goal advantage against the Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. He pointed out that the situation could become even more tense if Manchester City manage to beat Newcastle United F.C. before Arsenal play.

While Tottenham Hotspur F.C. have appointed a new manager, Shearer admitted he still does not feel convinced about their chances. He suggested that even with the so-called new manager bounce, Spurs have not shown enough to make him believe they can get a positive result. Because of this, he predicted an Arsenal away victory.

Arsenal recently drew against Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers after leading both games. These dropped points have raised concerns about their ability to handle pressure in the title run-in. Shearer believes small weaknesses are beginning to appear in Arsenal’s performances. He said it is not surprising, especially for a team that has not lifted the league trophy in several years.

The former striker added that very few teams dominate the league from start to finish, especially those who have not tasted recent success. He warned that criticism and outside noise will grow louder as the season nears its end. Arsenal have finished second in the last three campaigns and have won only one major trophy under Mikel Arteta. Now, they must prove they can stay strong and finish the job.
