Lindsey Vonn takes first steps after 2026 Winter Olympics crash as early progress hints at possible return
In a recent Instagram post, Vonn shared a short clip from the gym. She was wearing a medical boot and holding crutches. At first, even standing looked difficult. Then slowly, she moved forward. One step at a time. It was not perfect, but it was real. She added a simple line on the video, “Coming back from the comeback… from the comeback.” That one moment has now started a bigger conversation about how soon she could return.
Lindsey Vonn shows steady recovery after Olympic crash as comeback hopes quietly grow
Vonn’s post was not just about walking. It showed how much work she has already put in behind the scenes. Her surgery scar was clearly visible, running along her leg. Still, she looked focused. In the caption, she wrote, “No matter how hard I get knocked down I will always find a way to get back up! One step at a time! #progress.”This update follows a series of small but important wins. Earlier, she shared, “I’m biking!! Starting with 5 minutes…making progress one day at a time.” Even while still on crutches, she managed to do six pull ups on March 21. These are not big headlines, but they show steady effort.
She has also been trying simple movements to build strength again. In one session, she did a single leg glute bridge while keeping her injured leg raised. Outside the gym, she has started moving around more. She was seen using an electric scooter and even took her dog, Chance, out for a walk. These moments may look small, but they matter a lot at this stage.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Vonn kept things open about her future. She said, “I don’t like to close the door on anything, because you just never know what’s going to happen.” She added, “I have no idea what my life will be like in two years or three years or four years.”
