However, for some Olympians, the Games are also a chance to be close to their partners. A few athletes are competing alongside the people they love, making this global sporting event feel personal and emotional.

When both partners are Olympians, romance becomes part of the Olympic Village routine. Instead of restaurants or vacations, they share practice arenas and stadiums. As Valentine’s Day approaches, several athlete pairs have drawn attention for balancing elite competition with strong relationships.

One of the most talked-about couples is USA’s Hilary Knight and Brittany Bowe. Knight is a women’s ice hockey legend and one of Team USA’s greatest scorers. Bowe is a decorated speed skater and multiple Olympic medallist. Their relationship began during the Beijing 2022 Games. Bowe revealed that Knight invited her for a walk, and it soon became their nightly habit. They spent evenings strolling around the village and talking quietly, enjoying the peaceful environment away from outside distractions.

Bobsleigh athletes Kaysha Love and Hunter Powell also share a unique story. They met at the University of Nevada. Powell once competed in track and field, but Love encouraged him to try bobsledding. That suggestion changed his career and led both to the Olympics.

Canada’s Marie-Philip Poulin and Laura Stacey are another famous pair. Both are Olympic champions in ice hockey and married in 2024. Poulin once told CBC that beyond being an athlete, marriage allowed her to feel comfortable and authentic. She added that fans appreciated seeing her true personality.

Figure skaters Madison Chock and Evan Bates compete together as partners and spouses. They won Olympic gold in Beijing and married later. Chock explained to The People their sport and personal life often mix because skating defines who they are, though they still make time to relax after events. She also shared that marrying Bates meant spending life with her closest companion while supporting each other’s dreams.

Snowboarder Red Gerard is competing, while partner Hailey Langland watches from the stands due to an ACL injury. Even so, she remains his loudest supporter.
