Paddy Pimblett's medical update: Brit recovering after bloody UFC 324 defeat to Justin Gaethje
Paddy Pimblett went through a worrying night in Las Vegas, but fans can now breathe easy. The popular Liverpool fighter was rushed to the hospital after a bloody and punishing loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 324. While the defeat hurt, Pimblett’s health quickly became the main concern. A medical update has since confirmed that he is doing well and recovering after precautionary checks. The fight took place early Sunday morning at the T-Mobile Arena, where Pimblett challenged for the interim lightweight title. The bout went the full five rounds and ended in a unanimous decision loss.
Pimblett was dropped twice and suffered cuts during the fight. After the contest, the UFC medical team examined him inside the arena before sending him to a nearby hospital for further checks. Pimblett’s long-time manager and Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan later reassured fans with an update on Instagram. “Paddy is good,” Boylan wrote. “We’ll see you at Zouk. Thank you for the love and support.” Pimblett was later released from the hospital and even attended his planned after-party at the Zouk nightclub in Las Vegas.
He added, “There’s no other man I’d rather lose to than ‘The Highlight’. Justin Gaethje is someone I’ve loved watching growing up watching the UFC, and it shows why he’s a legend.”
Pimblett also shared his view on the scoring. “I thought 48-47 was a fair scorecard. I’m not gonna lie, he hit me with a body shot in the first round, in the solar plexus, and it got me. I thought I was winning the round up to that point,” he said.
Looking forward, Pimblett stayed confident. “You live, and you learn. I’m 31, I’ll be better. You haven’t seen the last of me,” he added.
UFC president Dana White also praised Pimblett’s toughness during the post-fight press conference. “He got dropped a bunch of times and took big shots from a guy who knocks everybody out,” White said. “I don’t know if tonight affected Paddy’s career at all. He showed he’s tough, durable, and can take a punch.”
For now, Pimblett will focus on rest and recovery, but his message was clear: this setback will not stop him from coming back stronger.
