Reports claim Aurore Fleury, who is 32 years old, placed a bet on fellow French athlete Alice Finot to win the women’s 3000m steeplechase at the 2024 European Championships in Rome. Alice Finot won the race, and that result later triggered a review under Athletics Integrity Unit rules.

While betting on sports is legal in many places, Aurore Fleury is alleged to have violated a strict rule that bans athletes from betting on events in their own sport.
