Serena Williams says breakup sparked unbeatable run
In the clip, Venus Williams told Serena:
“I feel like there was a period though where you were invincible and I couldn’t, I couldn’t play better than you. Was it like a two-year period?” The 23-time Grand Slam champion laughed and answered:
“I think that’s when I went through my breakup.”Venus quickly added: “Oh, I wish I would have broke up.” Serena then replied: “Yeah, maybe you should have broke up too.” Both sisters burst into laughter, showing the playful bond they share.
Viewers were offered a special insight on how Serena's personal life affected her performance during her best years in the interview.
Venus, a seven-time Grand Slam champion, even said she would not be able to beat her sister in those years. The humorous scene has already spread like wildfire, offering listeners something fresh to talk about as they await the first podcast episode.
