Tyson Fury’s long-awaited mega fight with Anthony Joshua might not happen after all and this time, the problem isn’t the promoters. According to promoter Frank Warren, Tyson Fury’s wife, Paris Fury, and his father, John Fury, are urging him not to step back into the ring. The British boxer, who retired after losing to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024, had hinted at a comeback in 2026. But his family wants him to stay retired for good, fearing for his health and peace of mind.
The 37-year-old former heavyweight world champion has been keeping busy with his Netflix projects and public appearances, but talk of a possible fight with Joshua keeps returning. Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, remains confident the showdown could happen next summer. Still, Frank Warren told The Telegraph that it all “comes down to the money,” while warning that Tyson’s family “don’t want him to fight.”
Paris Fury and John Fury fear Tyson Fury’s return could risk his health and family happiness
Paris Fury and John Fury have both spoken openly about their wish for Tyson to stay away from boxing. Warren revealed that “his wife Paris and his dad John don’t want him to fight,” adding that their influence could stop the Anthony Joshua bout from happening.
“We must remember that you can’t make someone fight,” he said in the Telegraph interview. Paris Fury, who shares seven children with Tyson, has long been worried about the dangers of the sport.
She previously told The Mirror that she wanted Tyson to “beat Anthony Joshua and then stop,” explaining that “one shot can change everything.”
Her concerns go back years, even before Tyson’s trilogy with Deontay Wilder, when she often begged him to retire after the 2020 and 2021 fights.

Frank Warren said history could repeat itself if Tyson chose not to come back, comparing the circumstance to renowned bouts that never occurred like Lennox Lewis against Riddick Bowe.
For the moment, Tyson Fury's ball is in his court. A clash with Anthony Joshua could fill Wembley Stadium several times over, but as Warren said, “it depends on the money and what’s available.”
With family pressure mounting, Tyson’s next move will decide whether fans ever see the British heavyweight dream fight they’ve waited years for.
