Gian Van Veen admits he’s very excited about the Premier League. Pieter Gerard "Gian" van Veen is a Dutch professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation events.
The Dutchman is just two games away from competing in the World Darts Championship. He smashed Luke Humphries in the final eight to secure his berth in the semifinals.
He will now compete against Gary Anderson for the position in the showpiece against either Luke Littler or Ryan Searle.
Van Veen's victory at Ally Pally has practically earned him a place in the Premier League this year. He immediately moved up to World No. 3 and became the new Dutch No. 1, surpassing Michael van Gerwen, after making it to the semi-finals.

He answered, “Is there a rule that the top four automatically qualify? Then very thrilled.
“As long as I don’t get the email or phone call that I am not going to be in, I am not 100 per cent sure.
“But it is really looking good, so very, very excited, of course.
“Playing the other top seven players in the world week in, week out is very exciting.
“I couldn’t even dream about it growing up. I really look forward to that.
Van Veen, 23, confessed that he doesn't feel like a top-five player in the world despite defeating world No. 2 Humphries 5-1.
Fans realise Gian Van Veen's real name after his triumph
After Gian Van Veen’s huge triumph, fans overrealised his name on social media. What is he really called? Van Veen's real name is Pieter Gerard Van Veen. One social media user wrote, "People's minds are going to be blown when it comes to light that Gian van Veen isn't actually called Gian." “His name is Pieter, Gian is so much cooler though.”
Van Veen's achievement has likely secured him a place in the Premier League for this season. He might surely move to the top four, unless there’s a final between Ryan Searle and Anderson. He used to work in the aviation sector before he became a full-time professional dart player. However, Van Veen's plans to become a pilot never happened, partly because he was colorblind.
