His tournament ended with a three-set loss to Aleksandar Kovacevic, who won 7-6(5), 2-6, 2-6. Despite the defeat, Kouame showed maturity.

After the match, Kouame explained that the opening set demanded huge physical effort. Speaking in the post match conference, he said that the atmosphere and crowd support made the experience special and helped push him through difficult moments. He admitted that the final two sets were more challenging physically, but felt the match clearly showed areas where he needs to improve. According to him, the intensity on court was enjoyable, and he hopes to return stronger and compete deeper in future events.

Kouame’s progress in recent weeks has been impressive. Ranked outside the top 800 in January, he has already moved into the top 650. He is currently the youngest player inside the ATP top 1000. His rise has drawn comparisons to Rafael Nadal, who made his ATP debut at a similar age, though Nadal famously won his first match in Mallorca in 2002.

Beyond Montpellier, Kouame has been gaining experience at major events. He competed in singles and doubles in Paris last year and pushed hard in qualifying rounds. He also attempted to qualify for the Madrid Open, where he faced tough opposition.
