Lionel Messi wins record Ballon d'Or title

Lionel Messi claimed a record sixth Ballon d'Or award on Monday, while USA's Megan Rapinoe was crowned the winner among women. Messi beat Virgil van Dijk, the runner-up, and third-placed Cristiano Ronaldo in the race to the title, thus adding to the trophies he won in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015.
