MLB insider Ken Rosenthal reacts to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s statement on Juan Soto

During a recent appearance on the reputed chat show New York Post Sports, Joel Shermand and Jon Heyman discussed Gerrit Cole’s Tommy John surgery update and the current state of the New York Yankees, and in between the conversation, the MLB insiders even spoke about the former Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. While talking about the contradictory statement of Guerrero Jr.on Soto’s $765 million contract with the Mets, Heyman said,

“They’ve told Ken Rosenthal they will stay for 500; I mean, I guess, 500 would be a great deal, but why put a limit on it? I think he’s making a mistake, yeah, and then the question becomes, if the Blue Jays were willing to do something in the $450 million range for 14 years again. It’s not my money, John; I would say that’s probably a little too much for a guy who plays first base. ”

Apart from addressing one of the most important issues with respect to maintaining confidentiality between the athlete and the participating team while sealing a contract, as it happened in the case of the Dominican athlete Juan Soto and the New York Mets’ front office management, Jon Heyman even praised the Blue Jays’ star for his proficiency as a talented hitter.

Reportedly, Juan Soto bagged a record-breaking $765 million contract with the New York Mets for 15 years, so now even the Toronto Blue Jays’ Dominican star was looking forward to a similar deal. He was low-balled by the Blue Jays as he was offered a deal with an average value of $50 million by the end of the offseason.
