Bo Bichette has signed a three-year contract worth $126 million with the New York Mets, as multiple sources, including MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, have reported. This deal features opt-outs after the 2026 and 2027 seasons, no deferrals, and a complete no-trade clause, according to ESPN. The agreement is still pending a physical, as stated by MLB.com. Bichette is anticipated to take on the role of third baseman for the Mets.

The signing happened in under 15 hours after the Mets missed out on free agent Kyle Tucker, who signed a four-year, $240 million contract with the Dodgers, as reported by MLB.com.

Mets owner Steve Cohen had shared on X, "Let me know when you see smoke," expecting a big move, according to MLB.com.

The Mets are said to have outbid the Philadelphia Phillies, who had proposed Bichette a seven-year, $200 million contract, as explained by USA Today's Bob Nightengale on X.

Bichette and Guerrero both kicked off their MLB careers with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019, being the sons of former MLB legends—Bichette is the son of Dante Bichette and Guerrero is the son of Vladimir Guerrero Sr. They were crucial in helping the Blue Jays become regular playoff contenders.

Over seven seasons and 748 regular-season games with Toronto, Bichette posted a batting average of .294, hitting 111 home runs and driving in 437 RBIs, according to Baseball-Reference. In 2025, he had a solid year, batting .311 with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs over 139 games.

In that crucial match, Bichette smashed a three-run homer in the third inning against Shohei Ohtani, a 442-foot shot that put the Blue Jays ahead 3-1, as reported by MLB.com.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts described the game as one for the history books according to MLB.com.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider highlighted the team's determination, saying, "We have set a new expectation and a new standard here," in post-game comments to MLB.com.

The series featured an 18-inning Game 3 that the Dodgers took home, and it was the first Game 7 since 2019, according to MLB.com and Wikipedia.

The Dodgers made history by being the first team to win back-to-back championships since the Yankees did it from 1998 to 2000.
