After being traded from the New York Yankees to the San Diego Padres, the 2025 MLB season seemed to look pretty interesting for the pitcher. However, an MLB analyst recently claimed that the Padres are mostly likely to retain King, keeping him with the team for one more season.

On Friday, MLB analyst Robert Murray made an appearance on the "The Baseball Insiders" podcast, during which he shed light on the future of Michael King. Murray claimed that he finds it "impossible" to see King and Dylan Cease get traded by the Padres. Sharing details into his take, Murray said:
"We've all seen the reports about the Padres and their involvement with Dylan Cease and Michael King. I can confidently say that the Padres have not engaged in trade talks regarding Michael King. I would be very, very, very surprised if they ultimately traded him."

"Nothing is impossible by any means, but they have not engaged in any discussions, and I do not expect him to be traded. With Cease, there's nothing cooking there either. We'll see if anything changes between now and Opening Day, but nothing is imminent. I would not be surprised if both of those guys were on the roster come Opening Day," Murray further added.

There were speculations previously claiming that Michael King could land with the Atlanta Braves. Robert Murray previously stated that there's a good chance of King going into the Braves. Talking about the same in his report, Murray said:
"So, rather than force a trade for Cease – who has just one year left on his deal anyway, mind you – Atlanta could land Michael King, who is also reportedly up for grabs. The structure of King's contract makes it more likely San Diego will hang onto him beyond this season. So, the Padres aren't necessarily inclined to trade him."

But while the speculations have been dismissed, do you think there's a chance for the Padres to trade King before the Spring Training?
