Mets Owner Steve Cohen indirectly shows zero interest in Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

The Canadian-Dominican athlete Vladimnir Guerrero Jr. entered free agency after the failure of being retained by the Toronto Blue Jays. The dynamic baseman diverted the spotlight towards himself during the entire off-season and with the current update on his MLB career, it seems like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. would be the talk of the town due to his prolonged free agency. During a conversation with ESPN’s Jorge Castilo, New York Mets owner Steve Cohen indirectly showed no interest in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Cohen said-

"I mean, you really can't have too many long-term contracts, because then you lose your roster flexibility, so you gotta be really careful,"

He further mentioned-

Mets Steve Cohen takes a jibe at Pete Alonso’s agent Scott Boras

Recently, Steve Cohen opened up about the re-signing of Pete Alonso during an interview with Howie Rose at the Meet at the Apple podcast. Based on the details shared by the Mets owner, the Polar Bear’s agent Scott Boras did not speak a single word during their meeting with the athlete at Tampa. Cohen revealed-

“And so David and I flew down to Tampa, had a great conversation over a few hours, and frankly, Pete did all the talking. Scott Boras was there and Scott didn't say a freaking word the whole time! And it was like I turned to him, I go, 'I just want to make sure... you're still breathing over there!”

Pete Alonso’s homecoming not only made his teammates happy but also the New York Mets’ officials Steve Cohen and David Stearns did not want to miss out on their old man. During his free agency, from Scott Boras to his increasing age -almost every aspect with respect to Alonso became a point of discussion until he was welcomed back by the Mets for the upcoming two seasons for $54 million.
