After Jorge Lopez’s controversial exit from the New York Mets, in 2014, the pitcher who is quite popular for calling a spade a spade earned the tag of the worst teammate too.

Why Jorge Lopez Was Evicted From The New York Mets?

Back in 2024 May, Puerto Rican pitcher Jorge Lopez was faced with ejection from the New York Mets during a face-off against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Even after losing against the Dodgers with an overall score of 10-3, Lopez found a way to steal the limelight for all the wrong reasons. His altercation with the third base umpire Ramon De Jesus made headlines and even showed him in a negative media light.

Lopez chucked his gloves at the stands and wasn’t even apologetic about his careless behavior. On being asked about his on-field antics after the match, Lopez said-

"No. I don't regret it. I think I've been on the worst team in the whole f--king MLB. Whatever happened happened."

New York Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza addressed Lopez’s irresponsible behavior in the stadium during a post-game conference. He said-

"Whenever you're going through a stretch like this, you're going to see some emotions from players, from anybody in here. But what we saw from López is not acceptable. We will address that internally here."

After having a controversial 2024 season, Lopez has signed a 1-year deal worth $3 million including the incentives with one of the Mets’ rival teams, the Washington Nationals. After experiencing 365 days of highs and lows with the Mets, Lopez is looking forward to giving his best with respect to the Nationals.
