Cyclothon organised to promote women’s health
NEW DELHI: Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India movement, the first edition of the Pink Cyclothon was organised by SPEFL-SC, in association with Skill India, NCIET, NSDC and FICCI.
The cyclothon was successfully organised on the occasion of International Women’s Day. It was flagged off from the iconic Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in the Capital.
The event’s been dedicated to promote women’s health, fitness and inclusivity. It’s been hosted under the guidance of Ekta Vishnoi, the director of Mission Fit India.
Besides the cyclothon, various other activities like Zumba were organised to engage participants and spectators alike. Preeti Maske, an avid cyclist, Shaheeda Parveen Ganguly, deputy SP at Jammu & Kashmir Police, Vita Dani, the founder of Dani Foundation, and social worker Anita Singh Tanwar were present to inspire the participants and convey the message of ‘self-defence – right of women’ to the audience present.
On the occasion, Maske said, “Cycling is the easiest and most convenient way to keep us fit.”
Supporting her, Ganguly stated that “women should be more self-aware and rather than waiting for situations that go in their favour, they should take the initiative themselves”.
Dani said, “Keeping our body fit is of utmost importance for the modern-day woman”.
The highlight of the event was that many para-athletes, transgenders, and even old aged people participated in it.
After witnessing the level of excitement among people, the organisers said they’re eager to host the next edition.
