NEW DELHI: Making a triumphant return after a year-long break, Mirabai Chanu delivered a record-shattering performance to clinch gold at the Commonwealth Championships on Monday.

The Tokyo Olympics silver medallist lifted a total of 193kg (84kg in snatch and 109kg in clean and jerk), breaking the Commonwealth records in all three categories — total, snatch, and clean and jerk — to dominate the women’s 48kg event.The 31-year-old, who shifted from the 49kg category after it was dropped from the Olympic programme, was competing for the first time since finishing fourth at the Paris Games last August.
