KOCHI: Top cueists, including defending champion John Higgins, will take part in the fifth Indian Open

World Ranking Snooker Tournament

to be held here from February 27-March 3.


Besides Higgins, other top players include

Dominic Dale

,

Ben Woollastan

, Jack Lisowski, Neil Robertson, Duane Jones, Soheil Vahedi, Andy Hicks and Shaun Murphy, a press release said.

The tournament was rescheduled due to the devastating floods in the State last year.

The Indian attraction includes Digvijay Kadian, the 15-year-old sub-junior national champion from Rohtak in Haryana.

The former national champion Alok Kumar's protege, Kadian shot into the limelight when he defeated two-time Asian champion Dhruv Sitwala in Chennai in 2017.

The youngster is up against Jamie Jones of Wales in the first round.

At 14, Jones was the youngest ever player to make a maximum 147 break in competition. His record was broken by Judd Trump, the current World No 5 from Bristol.

All matches up to and including the semi-finals will be best of 7 frames with no intervals and the final will be best of 9 frames.
