NEW DELHI: India’s para judo champions, who showcased remarkable skill and determination on the global stage last year, have earned nominations for the prestigious Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) 2024. Their resilience, technique, and competitive spirit will be celebrated in the para judo category.

With February 22 approaching, anticipation builds for the Para Judoka of the Year award. The winners will be honored at a grand ceremony in Lucknow, famously known as the ‘City of Nawabs.’

This year’s theme, #MoreSweatMoreGlory, highlights the relentless pursuit of excellence by athletes and para-athletes across diverse sports.

The assessment period for the awards was from January 1 to December 31, 2024 and the list of award winners was drawn by the eminent TOISA 2024 Jury.

The year began with gold at the IBSA Judo Grand Prix in Antalya, Turkey, showcasing his unrelenting spirit.


He followed it up with another gold at the Tbilisi Grand Prix in Georgia, cementing his position as a global contender.

However, Kapil’s crowning moment came on September 5, 2024, at the Paris Paralympics, where he clinched a bronze medal -- the first-ever Paralympic medal in judo for India.
