“Close to Jordan” - NBA veteran Gilbert Arenas breaks down actual reason behind LeBron James’ criticism
Former NBA legend Gilbert Arenas is known for his analysis and opinions. In the recent episode of The Gilbert Arenas Show, the veteran broke down the real reason behind the amount of criticism that LeBron James gets even today. He believes that the actual reason behind this is his name coming up alongside Michael Jordan in the GOAT debate. Gilbert believes that the fans don’t acknowledge the fact that LeBron is 41 and still hopping around.
LeBron James is in his 23rd season in the league. Even though he missed the first 24 seasons of the game, he came back and established his dominance within the league. The 41-year-old athlete is currently averaging 21.9 points, with 5.6 rebounds and 6.9 assists.
Gilbert analyzed how there are more than 5000 players within the league and the fact that the conversation between these two players specifically highlights their credibility. Gilbert further added, “Stop trying to minimize how great these two players are.” He went on to praise LeBron for his consistency at this age, “The man is 41 years old. The fact that he’s walking still, let alone averaging 25, is crazy. So for him to publicly have to say, ‘Its his team’, that is crazy.” Gilbert acknowledges the fact that LeBron cannot be functioning on a high level at this age.
As it seems that the legend is nearing his career's end, more and more people from within the league are extending their appreciation towards one of the greatest players that the league has witnessed.
