Kobe Bryant and his daughter
Gianna on the fifth anniversary of their tragic passing. Fans, players, and families across the country shared heartfelt tributes, celebrating the legacy of a man who dominated the court and inspired millions. Among those reflecting on Kobe’s impact was
DeMar DeRozan’s wife, Kiara Morrison, who shared a touching message that brought fans back to cherished memories of Kobe’s life.
In his final years, Bryant’s dedication to fatherhood was evident. Whether sitting courtside with his daughter Gianna or sharing life lessons, Kobe’s role as a loving dad captivated fans worldwide. Bryant could easily change his persona from a basketball legend to a devoted father. He was an acute example of what it means to prioritize family over his individual prowess.
Gianna was fascinated with basketball as he grew up watching her father’s astonishing legacy in basketball. Right after his retirement, he started coaching his daughter. In a resurfaced podcast, the NBA legend’s wisdom sparked discussion online with most fans showering praise for his dedication to his family.
“It’s a great feeling but it would have been the same if it was anything else, as long as they got the passion for it. That’s the hardest thing, is trying to find something that your kids are passionate about. Gianna loves basketball,” Bryant said during the podcast. “It’s fun to watch them figure it out. I watch my daughter Gianna, and she’s aggressive as hell. I didn’t teach her that, she’s just naturally aggressive,” he added addressing his kids' training.
Like many, the parenthood wisdom shared in the podcast proved to be a valuable lesson to the Sacramento Kings forward DeMar DeRozan’s wife, Kiara Morrison. The 37-year-old took to her Instagram to share a heartfelt message responding to the podcast. “Feel this in my core. And I can’t wait to continue this journey with big girl! Then knowing I have 3 more who may also get the itch is exciting,” she wrote on her Instagram story.
