During a special edition of the popular media outlet People, Gabrielle Union reflected on her menopause experience.
She revealed being ashamed of experiencing menopause, but gradually the entire process helped her look at the world from a different point of view. Dwyane Wade’s wife even mentioned how menopause became a turning point in her life.
Gabrielle Union reveals how menopause changed her perspective on life
Dwyane Wade’s wife, Gabrielle Union, has never shied away from talking about her life experiences. During an interview with People in 10, the Hollywood star spoke about her menopause experience. The 53-year-old said the entire process challenges a woman to look at her life from a different point of view. Gabrielle Union revealed,
"It challenges you to look at life differently-and not as an ending, but as a beginning. When you're dealing with, you know, hot flashes- whether it's the first time or the 100th- everyone is different. There are no two that are the same.”

She further elaborated on how menopause made her question herself, especially her value as a woman. Union added,
“It forces you to shift. And initially, I felt shamed. I felt like my value as a woman was diminishing. I felt very isolated. Over time, now, I feel empowered, and I'm going to talk about it and I'm not going to lose a thing.”
Gabrielle even reflected on an incident from the 2025 Met Gala event. According to a confession made by her, the actor went on to experience severe hot flashes, and Grammy winner Bad Bunny checked in to see whether she was okay or not. Union has always been vocal about the good and bad experiences in her life.
The Love and Basketball star struggled with infertility for a long time before going ahead with surrogacy to embrace motherhood. Both Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union welcomed their daughter Kaavia James via surrogacy in 2017, and now their world revolves around her.
