“Based on credible information received on the night of June 24, 2021, police spotted Saleem with his associates moving in a car from Hennur signal towards Nagawara. Quickly, a police team was despatched to detain him. However, on sensing the police trail, Saleem stopped the vehicle near the forest office in HBR Layout and started running. Police officials chased him and blocked him. When police went to detain him, the attack took place,” Deputy Commissioner of Police-East Vikram Amte told TOI.
“We filed a tight charge sheet against Saleem; ample evidence was collected from the crime scene, including the knife used in the attack, and the same was presented during the trial. The medical reports by the doctors on the constable’s injury and other circumstantial evidence helped in getting the conviction,” Amte said.
