Is Nikola Jokic’s NBA MVP bid slipping away as knee injury lingers for Denver Nuggets star?
What happened to Nikola Jokic on Monday was no less than an unfortunate event that could cost him at least a couple of weeks off the court. And one question that lingers in fans’ minds is whether the Denver Nuggets star could still win an MVP title this season. Well, while the league has been discussing the chances of the odds happening despite Jokic’s knee injury, the Nuggets are worried about their upcoming matches.
Without their center forward, who is out until further notice from their medical team, Jokic is suffering from a hyperextended left knee injury and underwent an MRI earlier on Tuesday. While the Nuggets star has been ruled out for at least a month, his chances of winning the MVP title are questionable this time. Let us dive deep into what could happen if Jokic’s absence from the court extends beyond a month.
The three-time MVP winner (2021, 2022, 2024), Nikola Jokic, is now seriously injured and has been ruled out for a month. In Monday’s match, the Nuggets faced the Heat, and while they lost 147-123, their star player developed a left knee injury. Jokic’s sole aim this season was to win the title of MVP, which could have been his 4th title in a row. However, his dreams might not come true, and as for his injury, Jokic needs proper rest for four weeks.
Jokic’s injury was something no one anticipated, and while the Nuggets were counting on him, in the end, they lost hope as well. Now this injury, though physically fatal, can also prove to be mentally disturbing. This is because, if Jokic doesn’t return until the 31st of next month, then he might lose all of the postseason awards, including MVP and All-NBA honors.
