The
Miami Heat and
Jimmy Butler officially parted ways in a shocking trade to the
Golden State Warriors, bringing an end to months of internal friction. Now, Butler is speaking out about his departure, making it clear that while the exit wasn’t ideal, he holds no grudges against his former team as he is now happy playing basketball again, this time, with the Warriors.

Jimmy Butler holds no grudges against his former team, the
Miami Heat despite enduring back-to-back three major suspensions which sidelined him for many games in their month-long rivalry. In a candid conversation on The Kris Fade Show, Butler shared his thoughts on leaving Miami after six seasons. “Great organization. It didn’t end the way everybody hoped, but that’s part of the business,” he said. “I don’t have anything bad to say about that organization.”
Of course, it was a rocky ending for Butler but he shared his respect for his former teammates and the franchise that helped define his career. “The way they want to beat me, I promise you it’s just as personal for me as well. Love those guys over there,” he added.
Butler was the face of the Heat for years, leading them to two NBA Finals appearances in 2020 and 2023. However, his last season in Miami was marred by suspensions and growing tension and it was quite clear that a split was inevitable.
Butler’s move to the Warriors became official as part of a massive five-team trade just before the deadline. Miami received Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, and a protected 2025 first-round pick from the
Golden State Warriors, along with Davion Mitchell from the Toronto Raptors.
During his introductory press conference with the Warriors, Butler appeared relieved to be moving forward. “I’m at a really good place mentally,” he said. “This mini, mini break that I didn’t want, but had during the year, I got to spend more time with my kids, more time with my loved ones to reflect on a lot. But I’m in shape, I’m ready to go.”
The star forward further shared that he’s eager to get back on the court. “I’ve been training, I’ve been running up and down, laughing, smiling, and having fun. But now I get to do one of the things that I love more than anything, and that’s to compete,” he added.
Despite the drama surrounding his exit, Butler remains appreciative of his time in Miami. “I don’t got too many bad things to say about them. I don’t. They gave me an opportunity. I felt like I did my job to the highest level. I have so much respect for that organization, for the people who are running that organization, and for my former teammates. And I’m going to wish them the best.”
Meanwhile, Miami is already looking ahead. Andrew Wiggins, who arrived in the trade, will take over Butler’s former No. 22 jersey, as confirmed by the Heat on social media.
