Jimmy Butler has been a country music fan for years and is often seen singing his favorite tunes. In college, he was known to sing Luke Combs’ songs. Most recently, he was spotted singing “99 Bottles of Beer” by Melvins in an Instagram Story. Now, recently during the offseason, the NBA star shared his favourite playlist on his social media. One of the songs that stood out was “Glamurosa” by Brazilian musician MC Marcinho.
Jimmy Butler's playlist shines with Brazilian funk
Jimmy Butler first began listening to country music to mock his teammates, but he soon developed a love for the genre. According to Rolling Stone, he started liking country music after coming across Tim McGraw’s track “Don’t Take the Girl.”
Recently, he uploaded “Glamurosa” by MC Marcinho on his Instagram Story. MC Marcinho was a popular funk artist in Brazil. The song became a big hit in the early 2000s. Many Brazilians still love the song today. By including “Glamurosa” on his favourite playlist, Jimmy Butler has shown respect and appreciation for Brazilian funk.
This is not the first time Jimmy Butler has shown love for global music. He has been seen enjoying all kinds of music.
In a 2022 interview with Rolling Stone, he shared that he was working on his own music album. He mentioned that the project was still in progress but would be finished soon. The player also revealed that he had recorded around 45 tracks for the surprise project.
He said:
"I don’t want to tell anyone who I’ve been writing with because then it’ll ruin the surprise,. Now, I’m in the lab writing and producing country music. We got some real artists and songwriters. We probably got around 45 tracks right now, and I hope to go write some more. There’s definitely going to be an album."
When talking about his music taste, he said that he chooses songs based on how they make him feel. He simply enjoys music that “feels good.” Before big games, Jimmy Butler always puts on his headphones and listens to his favorite songs.
He further said that songs like “Glamurosa” bring a fun and vibrant energy. Additionally, by including “Glamurosa” in his playlist, he’s also introducing more people to MC Marcinho’s music. MC Marcinho sadly passed away in 2023, but his music still lives on. The songs continue to bring happiness to the listeners around the world.
