LeBron James is one of the best basketball players of all time. However, having won titles with the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, and Cleveland Cavaliers, the
NBA star could have played football instead.
NFL star Davante Adams recently claimed that
LeBron James has the potential to be a fantastic football player. According to him, one of the reasons the NBA icon would be successful in the NFL was his quickness. James is larger than some of the greatest tight ends and wide receivers in NFL history, and has the right size to play either position.
Davante Adams says LeBron James had the tools to be an NFL legend
The current star of the
Los Angeles Lakers has consistently demonstrated a close bond with the NFL. As a result, many were prompted to consider what the King could have accomplished if he had opted for football instead of basketball.
Recently, NFL legend Davante Adams acknowledged in a recent interview with the media that LeBron James would have surely become a football hero if he had focused on the game. During his visit on The Dan Patrick Show, he stated:
“He would’ve been one of the best receivers, tight ends of all time.. No question. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen him play football … he can fly, too, that’s the thing.
He continued:
“He’s one of the fastest NBA players, probably of all time.
I’ve never seen someone cover space on a basketball court [like him], maybe John Wall or Derrick Rose, something like that. But he’s up there with all of ’em.”
He added then:
"He can fly too. That’s the thing. He’s one of the fastest NBA players probably of all time.”
In fact, LeBron James himself has talked about it once. Earlier, he stated that he would have compared himself with Rob Gronkowski and Randy Moss. During his March appearance on the "New Heights" podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce, he stated:
"Probably like a mix between, you know, (Rob Gronkowski) or Randy Moss a little bit, but he's a lot smaller than me. He runs a lot faster, but he's a lot smaller than me.”

While his fans will never know how he would have done in football, it’s fun to think about. His rare combination of size, speed, and skill would have made him a threat in any sport.
Whether on the court or the football field, one thing is clear: LeBron James is a once-in-a-generation talent, and according to Davante Adams, he could’ve dominated both.
