LeBron James’ season-low score puts Lakers in jeopardy against Timberwolves

LeBron James was far from putting on an impressive show during the Lakers vs. Timberwolves game where James and Co. faced a devastating defeat with 109-80 on Monday night. James struggled in 31 minutes, recording just 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and six turnovers while shooting 25% from the field. The low score from the star power and the defeat have raised concerns among fans.

LeBron James' lowest total this season has got wide attention from fans. The veteran struggled to keep up his usual game to lead the Lakers to victory. Additionally, it is worth noting that James has been a leading scorer only four times this season while his teammate Anthony Davis has led the Lakers 11 times.

James reached double digits for the 1,243rd consecutive game on Monday, extending his NBA record. However, it was just the 17th time in his career that he scored 10 points or fewer. Sitting at eight points in the fourth quarter, James hit two free throws with 8:51 left to secure his streak.

In the game, D'Angelo Russell led the Lakers with 20 points, hitting 4-of-5 from three, and added five assists. Anthony Davis contributed 12 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, while Rui Hachimura matched LeBron James with 10 points. The Lakers' 80-point total was also their lowest of the season, as they struggled on the second night of a back-to-back following a narrow win against Utah.

“It's everything. It's the rhythm. I just feel off rhythm these last three, four games,” James said of the game. Davis was also visibly frustrated with the devastating defeat as he called the game “disgusting.”

Previously, the Lakers head coach JJ Redick shared that his faith in the team has been intact, “I think everybody that I've talked to, and that's our main seven or eight guys, they all feel the same way I do, which is the best version of us is when we have body and ball movement. I think we've seen that be a fact,” Redick said.

He went on to add, “I think they all agree with that. I've had conversations with them, they've all agreed with that. And I think if you look at the quarters, games where we've stalled out, we haven't had that.”

However, James has been under constant criticism, sometimes for his poor performances. He has also been backlashed by fans and critics with nepotism allegations.

As for his recent low score, it came right after he made history by being the second player to reach 15,000 field goals.
