LeBron James shows growing love for golf with casual off-court swing on social media

During the Lakers' most recent game, LeBron James attracted attention. He soon shared a picture of himself playing golf on Instagram. He was swinging at the time. That particular incident demonstrated how much the sport has piqued his attention in addition to his NBA career.

The Lakers player was seen practicing golf swings while the NBA action took place on the court in a brief sideline film that swiftly went viral on social media. James's interest in golf has grown significantly off the court, to the point that both colleagues and fans have noticed his commitment to the mental challenge and nuances of the game.

NBA players frequently switch to golf after retirement because it provides the same competitive atmosphere as basketball, but without the physicality of opponents or the pressure from NBA arena fans.

Being by himself in the peace and quiet of the greens and surrounded by nature was a novel and revitalizing experience for LBJ, whose life and basketball career have been scrutinized since high school.

"I think the best thing I've gotten from it, besides like how competitive and hard it is, the mental challenge, which I love anything that's mentally challenging, but you just get away from the world…”




He added:

“You're out there on the green, no phones. My phone stays in the cart the whole time. I check it from time to time. But it's just like I play my music, I'm out there with my guys. You're out there and just in the world. I can lose my mind into the game of golf."

Now, James recently uploaded a photo on Instagram which showed him practicing a golf swing. It was more than a fleeting moment of delight. He wrote in the caption:

“In motion..”

Even though James is still one of the best players in the league, it served as a reminder of how much golf has become a part of his life.

This passion for golf started a few months ago when James proudly uploaded videos of himself on the golf course, even if his swing still doesn't look that good.

LeBron James shared a video of himself playing golf for the first time ever after he exercised his $52.6 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers. Many regarded it as a hint that the end was nigh because Bron had no contract after the 2025–2026 NBA season and will soon play his 23rd year in the league.

For LBJ, however, it had little to do with getting ready for retirement. The golf insect was biting it.

"The bug is real," said LeBron in an interview with Spectrum Sportsnet Live. "I didn't know nothing about it. People said if you ever get into the game and the bug grabs you, it's over with. I definitely have it, man."

Smith, who played with LeBron in Cleveland, stated a few years ago that he did not see James playing golf because he does not explore his weaknesses.

When Jayson Tatum first witnessed Bron golf, he stated, "It's just a matter of putting yourself out there and learning." JT stated that LBJ only has to loosen up a little, especially with regard to his stiff-looking swing. Later, James replied to JT in a sarcastic manner. Since then, he has regularly uploaded photos of him golfing.
