NEW DELHI: LeBron James delivered a sensational triple-double performance to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a thrilling 145-144 double-overtime victory over the Golden State Warriors. James played 48 minutes and recorded a career-high 20 rebounds, along with 36 points and 12 assists in his 110th career triple-double. His remarkable performance included two clutch free throws with 1.2 seconds left in the second overtime to secure the win.
Anthony Davis, who briefly left the game in the third quarter with a hip injury, returned to contribute a double-double with 29 points and 13 rebounds in 45 minutes. Despite visibly limping at the end of the game, Davis played a crucial role in the Lakers' victory and added four blocks.
Stephen Curry had a spectacular night for the Warriors, scoring 46 points and connecting on nine 3-pointers. Curry's 3-pointer with 5.9 seconds left in the second overtime briefly gave the Warriors a 144-143 lead before James' game-winning free throws.
The Lakers, who were down by as many as 15 points in the third quarter, managed to hold the upper hand late in regulation and the first overtime. However, Curry's clutch plays forced the game into extra periods.
D'Angelo Russell contributed 28 points, including key 3-pointers in the second overtime, while Austin Reaves added 17 points. Jarred Vanderbilt had 14 points and nine rebounds, and Rui Hachimura added 11 points for the Lakers.
Despite Curry and Klay Thompson's combined 15 three-pointers for the Warriors, the Lakers outscored Golden State 38-11 from the free-throw line. Thompson, Wiggins, and Kuminga fouled out for the Warriors, leaving them short-handed in the closing moments.
The Lakers' victory came on the opening night of a six-game road trip and marked their second consecutive win.
