NEW DELHI: Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Milwaukee Bucks to a decisive 144-122 victory over the short-handed Brooklyn Nets in New York on Wednesday. Antetokounmpo dominated with 32 points, making 10 of 12 shots, while also contributing 10 rebounds and eight assists. This win marked the eighth in nine games for the Bucks.
Khris Middleton played a significant role, scoring a season-high 27 points and making 10 of the Bucks' season-high 41 assists. Middleton has been consistently contributing with at least 20 points for the third consecutive game and the fifth time this season. Cameron Payne added 18 points, and Malik Beasley, who went scoreless in the previous game against the New York Knicks, redeemed himself with 17 points. Together, they sank 23 three-pointers, tying the team's season best.
Other contributors for the Bucks included Bobby Portis with 14 points, Damian Lillard with 12, and MarJon Beauchamp with 11. Milwaukee showcased an impressive shooting performance, finishing with a 58.4% field goal percentage.
The Brooklyn Nets, missing key players due to various reasons such as injuries and rest, struggled against the Bucks. Despite rookie Jalen Wilson's career-high 21 points and 10 rebounds, the Nets lost for the sixth time in eight games. Trendon Watford added 17 points, and Dennis Smith Jr. contributed 14. The Nets shot 44.6% from the field but struggled from beyond the arc, misfiring on 25 of 32 three-point attempts.
The game saw multiple lead changes in the first quarter, but the Bucks secured a 66-59 lead by halftime. In the third quarter, Brooklyn briefly took a 79-78 lead, but the Bucks responded with a 14-6 spurt. Milwaukee continued to extend its lead in the fourth quarter, ultimately securing a comfortable victory.
