The NBA announced Gilgeous-Alexander as the third Oklahoma City Thunder player to be named NBA MVP after Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. The announcement comes after the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has an average of 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game. He played a pivotal role in helping his team reach the NBA Western Conference Finals.
Alexander’s wife Hailey seemed to be getting emotional on hearing the news. She shared the announcement on her Instagram Stories along with three yearning face emojis. Hailey is a former soccer player. Alexander and Hailey became parents to a son last year. They have named him Ares Alexander.
The internet lit up with reactions as the NBA tweeted on its official X handle: “The 2024-25 Kia NBA Most Valuable Player is... Shai Gilgeous-Alexander!”
Reacting to the NBA’s announcement tweet, a fan wrote, “He silenced the doubters, lifted the Thunder, and now he’s MVP. Shai’s rise is no fluke.” Another said, “Not surprised well deserved Shai 68-14 is insane!!! Jokic is still a beast but has competition!!” One more said, “SGA got a Trophy and two free throws.”

What an incredible season.” Many called him an “obvious and easy choice,” but many Nikola Jokic fans also looked upset about Alexander taking the MVP title. A tweet also read: “I know it!
