NBA legend Magic Johnson follows up wife Cookie’s birthday with a heartfelt post celebrating love, family, and faith
One of the most well-liked players in NBA history is Magic Johnson. Despite not playing since the 1996 season, the legendary Los Angeles Lakers player is still quite active on social media. He recently sent his wife Cookie Johnson a heartfelt and endearing greeting in honor of her 67th birthday.
He shared the message on Instagram. Additionally, he also shared a post after the birthday celebration. It included a cozy montage of pictures from her birthday celebration that captured moments of unity, family, and faith. The celebration seemed to me taking place on a yacht with their close friends and family.
Magic Johnson recently shared a heartfelt post after celebrating his wife, Cookie’s, birthday. The post contained a bunch of pictures from the celebration, where Cookie looked stunning. The caption of the photo read:
“We had the most amazing time celebrating Cookie’s birthday last night at Mamo St. Barths and today aboard the Whisper Yacht! I want to personally thank the incredible yacht staff for making Cookie’s birthday so special with their attention to every detail - from napkins with her name on them and balloons with her face, to the birthday cake…”
It continued:
“And, last but not least, a fireworks show over the water! Thank you as well to our wonderful friends John and Vicki Palmer, Dave and Tonya Winfield, Sam and LaTanya Jackson, and our masseuse, Jessica, for celebrating with us!..”
The well-dressed duo is seen in one of the photos standing close to one another on what looks to be a sophisticated yacht exterior deck. The NBA veteran, dressed in a light-colored short-sleeve knit shirt and dark pants, was spotted standing next to Cookie, who was wearing a bright orange sleeveless dress with heels and a friendly smile.
The text in pink calligraphy on a black background behind them reads “It’s Your Birthday Cookie.” The post came after Johnson’s heartfelt birthday wish for his wife, where he wrote:
“Happy Birthday to my forever love and my beautiful wife, Cookie Johnson! Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us that two are better than one, and life with you by my side has been God’s greatest gift to me. Your love, faith, and kindness uplift everyone you touch, especially me. I’m so thankful for every memory we’ve made and every season we’ve walked through together…”
He continued:
“I’m excited to see all the ways God continues to cover you, bless you, and open new doors for you in this next year. You deserve every good thing He has planned. Happy Birthday, Baby!”
In the 1980s, Magic Johnson not only rose to prominence as the NBA's biggest basketball hero, but he also became a global megastar, giving the league unprecedented attention. When all was said and done, he was already regarded as one of the best players to have ever set foot on an NBA court when the league reached the 1990s.
Magic Johnson and Cookie Johnson have been wed for more than thirty years. The former professional basketball player has always insisted that Cookie has been the source of meaning in his life, despite being well-known throughout the world for leading the Los Angeles Lakers during their Showtime era in the 1980s.
The couple met at Michigan State University in 1978 and dated intermittently for more than ten years before being married in 1991 and having two kids. Johnson's illustrious career lasted 13 seasons with the Lakers. In 906 games, he averaged 19.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 11.2 assists, and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 52.0% from the field and 30.3% from three-point range.
