NBA star Shaquille O’Neal Fumes Over The Face Off Between Austin Reeves And Victor Wembanyama

Shaquille O’Neal is one of those NBA stars who have been known for their no-filter opinions on athletes and basketball. The 52-year-old former basketball player was one of the biggest supporters of San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama back in 2022 long before the young athlete became a part of the NBA.

However, recently Shaquille O’Neal had something else to say about the popular French basketball player which was completely different from his previous opinion on the latter.

Shaquille O’Neal Talks About Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama’s Strategy For 5’11” Austin Reeves

On a recent episode of The Big Podcast Shaquille O’Neal opened up about the recent match between the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs. The Former Lakers star mentioned that he gave up watching that particular match due to a very prominent error in one of the popular athlete’s strategies. He said-


“I saw Lakers were playing the Spurs and you have Austin Reaves on fuc—g Wembanyama, I turned the TV off. How do you switch a 5’11 guy on a 7’5 and expect him to be? I’m like, ‘Come on, man!’ I turned the sh– off,”




He further mentioned-

“It’s soft and I’ve said this many times, it’s soft because everybody’s doing the same thing. It drives me f—ing crazy!”


Whereas back in 2022, when Wembanyama was not even properly introduced to the NBA, Shaquille O’Neal was impressed with the Spurs player. He said-

“He’s not the future Shaq but he can definitely be the first Victor. He’s a great player and he should want to make a name for himself, he should not want to be like anyone else.”


Therefore, Shaq expressed his displeasure at the lack of equal competition during the face-off between the Spurs and the Lakers. He was quite discontent with respect to Austin Reeves whose height is 5’11” standing opposite to 7’5” tall Victor Wembanyama.

Victor Wembanyama’s Accomplishments Make No Difference To Shaquille O’Neal’s Opinion

During an appearance on the Pat McAfee show in September, the NBA legend criticized San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama’s approach. The 52-year-old NBA critic openly discussed how Wemby needs to be more dominant on the court during the matches.

Shaq pointed out that the French athlete seemed more like an inside player. He said-

“Wemby is a great player, but I don’t really think you can be dominant when you shoot jumpers a lot. I was thinking if he was an inside player at 7’5, the answer is yes, but when you shoot jumpers, you’re always going to go up and down. The coach will tell you that.”




Despite being one of the biggest critics of Wemby, Shaq has been quite happy with his performance in the past and has even compared the young player with NBA stars like Kevin Durant. He even mentioned that France should be proud of coming up with Wemby in a sport dominated by the Americans.
