The Milwaukee Bucks could be looking to reform their roster as they reportedly have their eyes on Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine. According to ESPN, a four-team trade proposal involving the Bucks, Bulls, Toronto Raptors, and Houston Rockets would send LaVine to Milwaukee in exchange for key assets, including Khris Middleton and Bobby Portis.

What is the proposed four-team trade?

In the potential deal, the Milwaukee Bucks would receive LaVine, while the Bulls would acquire Khris Middleton, Portis, and a 2031 top-two protected first-round pick. The Raptors would land MarJon Beauchamp and cash considerations, while the Rockets would take on Delon Wright along with additional financial compensation.

This trade, if finalized, could significantly alter Milwaukee’s roster as they continue to build around Giannis Antetokounmpo in pursuit of another NBA title.

Zach LaVine is currently in the third year of a five-year, $215.6 million contract, which some analysts consider an overpay. However, his on-court production tells a different story. The 28-year-old guard is averaging 24 points per game this season while shooting an impressive 51.1% from the field and 44.6% from beyond the arc.

His ability to create his own shot and stretch the floor makes him an ideal fit alongside Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. A high-volume scorer with elite efficiency, LaVine could be the missing piece to strengthen Milwaukee’s title hopes.

While Milwaukee has an interest in Zach LaVine, per K.C. Johnson, making this trade happen won't be easy. Chicago understands Milwaukee’s urgency to maximize its championship window and could demand more than one first-round pick in return. Given the Milwaukee Bucks’ limited draft assets, that could pose a significant hurdle.

Additionally, due to the NBA’s second tax apron rules, Milwaukee cannot aggregate contracts unless they clear space. That means they will have to find a new home for Pat Connaughton before finalizing any potential deal.

Will the Milwaukee Bucks go ahead with the trade?

With the Eastern Conference growing increasingly competitive, the Bucks are under pressure to bolster their roster. While Zach LaVine’s contract is hefty, his talent could outweigh the financial risks. Whether Milwaukee is willing to meet Chicago’s demands remains to be seen, but if the front office believes LaVine is the missing piece, they may be willing to go all-in on a blockbuster move.
