Teyana Taylor responds to allegations she demanded jail time for Iman Shumpert while revealing he crashed her Rolls Royce: “Let’s get this gold-digger s*** out the way”

Teyana Taylor has had enough of the rumors surrounding her divorce from former NBA player Iman Shumpert. Taking to Instagram Live, she addressed the latest speculation that she’s trying to have her ex-husband jailed. Taylor clarified that while she did take legal action, her intention was never to put Shumpert behind bars. Instead, she simply wanted him to stop interfering in her life and let them both move on.

Teyana Taylor’s divorce settlement was a headline grabber. Recently, it was alleged that Iman Shumpert leaked their divorce settlement documents and in response, Taylor allegedly threatened him with jail time. “I never tried to send Iman to jail. I’m still not trying to send Iman to jail,” Taylor stated in her latest Instagram live breaking her silence on the rumors. “However, I have to file a motion to get him to leave me alone so we can both go and live our life in peace.”

The singer and actress pointed out a pattern she has noticed— every time she celebrates a professional achievement, negative stories about their divorce surface. She cited a recent example where she posted a picture from the Oscars that gained 1.4 million views, only to have false divorce settlement claims leak the very next day. Taylor believes Shumpert is behind the leaks, and she accused him of trying to keep his name in the headlines, particularly to promote his rap career.

Taylor also shut down claims that she was after Shumpert’s money. “Let’s get this gold-digger s*** out the way,” she said. “Every single car that I walked away with, I literally paid for out of my pocket. I bought my tour bus with my hard-earned money. I bought my Maybach after Iman crashed my Rolls Royce and never replaced it. Let’s be very clear, I left with what I came with.”

As per a report published by TMZ on Monday, the court reportedly awarded Taylor four out of the seven properties the couple owned, including two that she purchased herself. Shumpert received three properties, one of which was a Miami condo he had originally gifted to Taylor. “The parties never entered into any ‘Settlement’ at all,” her court petition read, per E! News. “Everything that either party received in the divorce was awarded by the Court.”

Taylor alleged that Shumpert ignored requests to stop spreading information about their case, pretending he had no idea how the stories leaked. In response, she filed a motion asking the court to hold him in contempt, with a request for a $1,000 fine and a 20-day jail sentence. While some took this as an attempt to have him locked up, she reiterated that her goal was only to put an end to the drama.

“People keep saying, ‘Oh, I want them to get back together.’ No. That’s not happening,” she stated. “I love him, I respect him, but I am moving on.”

At the end of her livestream, Taylor clarified that she is moving on from the whole divorce ordeal, “Let me get my back blown out in peace,” she joked.
