Bronny James, Luka Doncic, and the LA Lakers: Jeanie Buss Spills the Tea

Earlier this month, the NBA world imploded. The Lakers, in a move that shocked fans and analysts alike, traded Anthony Davis for Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic. Buss, speaking at the premiere of Running Point, a new Netflix series loosely based on her life, confirmed the trade and expressed her excitement about Doncic leading the next chapter of Lakers basketball. "The Lakers are about winning championships," Buss stated, emphasizing Doncic's desire to win as a perfect match for the franchise. She admitted being surprised by the sheer volume of media coverage, but acknowledged the global appeal of both the Lakers and Doncic, predicting an even wider reach for the team. With Doncic at the helm, the future, according to Buss, looks bright.

But Doncic isn't the only name making headlines in Lakerland. Bronny James, son of LeBron, has been under a microscope all season. His journey, oscillating between the G League and the Lakers bench, has fueled debates about his NBA readiness. Buss, however, is firmly in his corner. "Oh, I love having [Bronny on the team]," she declared, praising his work ethic and focus. While acknowledging the challenges of transitioning between the G League and the NBA, Buss expressed confidence in the Lakers' development system, citing success stories like Austin Reaves and Max Christie. She believes Bronny will follow a similar trajectory, continuing to grow and improve. (via People)

Beyond the on-court action, Buss's influence extends into the realm of entertainment. Running Point, starring Kate Hudson, draws inspiration from Buss's own rise to power within the Lakers organization. The series, produced by Mindy Kaling, explores the challenges faced by Isla Gordon (Hudson), who takes over as president of the fictional Los Angeles Waves after a scandal forces her brother to resign. Buss, who also served as an executive producer for the show, believes it will resonate with Lakers fans and beyond. She highlighted the relatable nature of the story and praised the "fantastic" cast. Running Point is set to premiere on Netflix on February 27th.
