Spanish basketball player Marta Xargay Casademont was the love match of three-time WNBA champion Breanna Stewart. They became engaged and married in 2021 after meeting as teammates on a Russian professional women's basketball team in 2018. Marta is a retired former professional basketball player with Spanish ancestry.

As ardent WNBA fans may be aware, Stewart first connected with Casademont while playing for Dynamo Kursk in Russia. Despite their early timidity, the athletes' romance blossomed in 2019 as a result of Stewart's injuries. In 2021, in front of close friends, the power couple exchanged vows in a laid-back ceremony.

Breanna's wife was born on December 20, 1990, in Girona, Spain, according to ESPN. Marta shares content on her Instagram account in both Spanish and English. Marta was a basketball player, just like her wife. Marta joined the Phoenix Mercury as a guard in February 2015, marking her WNBA debut. Additionally, she competed for Spain in the 2016 Olympics, winning a silver medal with the Spanish women's basketball team.




During the 2018–19 season, Breanna and her spouse played together for the Russian women's basketball team Dynamo Kursk, but they didn't communicate much because each of them had friends of their own.

After being married, the couple had a daughter named Ruby and a son named Theo a few years later. Now that the USA Basketball Women's National Team has qualified, we can anticipate seeing more of Stewart even at the 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris, France, despite Casademont's retirement from basketball.

In August 2021, a week after her daughter's birth, Marta wrote on Instagram:

“The best part of this year has been becoming a mother and growing a family with my incredible wife.”



On May 2, 2021, Breanna announced that she had proposed to Marta:

"Did something. One more ring. She posted pictures from the proposal on Instagram and wrote, "She said YES.. #wifey."

Marta didn't want to go on the walk in the Phoenix, Arizona desert where the proposal took place.

On July 6, 2021, the couple tied the knot in a small ceremony. Breanna and Marta's short video by TOGETHXR x Bleacher Report included footage from the ceremony, showing the brides exchanging vows while dressed casually in a flannel and jean jacket.

After Breanna froze her eggs in 2019 while she was hurt and unable to play, the couple welcomed their first child, Ruby, via surrogate on August 9, 2021. Theo Josep Stewart Xargay, Breanna and Marta's second child, was born in October 2023.
