Napheesa Collier knows the art of mastering the court and motherhood

Napheesa gave birth to her daughter in May 2022 and returned to the court just three months later to play one last time with Sylvia Fowles before the latter’s retirement.She has been married to basketball skills coach Alex Bazzell since 2022. They named their daughter Mila Sarah Bazzell. On her birthday in May, Collier shared an adorable family picture on Instagram and wrote in caption: “Happy birthday to our baby girl! How she’s already turning 3, I have no idea. We love you so much.”

Napheesa Collier has a basketball league of her own

Collier is a major figure in the WNBA, but she also co-founded her own basketball league with fellow star Breanna Stewart. It’s called Unrivaled, and it offers WNBA players, including herself, a chance to compete for money during the off-season.During her childhood, Napheesa was denied a spot on an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team in Jefferson City. In response, her parents formed a new team — the Lady Warriors — to ensure she could continue playing.

In addition to her WNBA success, she has also won two Olympic gold medals with the U.S. national team: one at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and another at the Paris 2024 Olympics.After playing college basketball for the University of Connecticut Huskies, Collier was drafted by the Minnesota Lynx as the 6th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft. She became just the second rookie in WNBA history — after Tamika Catchings — to record 400 points, 200 rebounds, and 60 steals.
