Gilly backs Dravid on legalizing betting

BANGALORE: Australia great Adam Gilchrist backed Rahul Dravid's opinion that betting in sport has to be legalized and said the move would come as a positive for sport. "I support Rahul's comments where he said, 'if legalizing betting on cricket is going to eradicate corruption both outside and inside the game, then it is going to be a positive move," he said.
"Anything to discourage what we know has been going on – outside influences tempting cricketers to under perform.We need to try to stop it. So, if that is an option – I don't know the delicacies around that in India, I come from a country where gambling is legal, controlled and well regulated –there are challenges there but if it is going to eradicate corruption, then I will support it," he added.
